COCOBOD SECURE INJUNCTION TO PROTECT COCOA FARMS AT AGYENPABOA AT DUNKWA OFFIN

The High Court at Dunkwa Offin has granted an injunction application filed by Ghana Cocoa Board to protect cocoa farms and the livelihoods of the farmers against the Chief of Dunkwa Offin, Okoforobour Obeng Nuako III.

Background to the case

COCOBOD received a petition from cocoa farmers at Denkyira Agyinpaboa near Dunkwa Offin that their cocoa farms are being destroyed by the Chief of Dunkwa, Okoforobour Obeng Nuako III, who is claiming ownership of the land from Ayenfuri Chief, Nana Kojo Appiah II.

COCOBOD sent delegation to engage the Chief, whiles the issue is being resolved. Few weeks after the engagement, the Chief sent his land guards to continue the destruction for estate development, which has affected about 50 acres of the cocoa farms.

This led COCOBOD to file the case at the Dunkwa High Court to seek for an injunction to protect the remaining farms and also pleaded the court to demand compensation for the farmers and charge him for destruction of cocoa farms.

The court today granted the injunction application by COCOBOD Lawyer, and adjourned the case to 26th May, 2026.
