Nana Fensi Asiampa II Joins his Ancestors at Age 97.

The Queen Mother, Chiefs and Elders of Assin Darmang in the Assin South District in the Central Region yesterday announced the demise of Nana Fensi Asiampah II who is also known in private life as Peter Kwaku Owusu Ansah Kwateng, a.k.a. P.K Kwarteng, Chief of Assin Darmang and Benkumhene of Assin Atandansu Traditional Council.
A colourful traditional ceremony was performed at Assin Darmang Palace during the Sunday Akwasidae to officially announce the departure of Nana, whom before he joined his ancestors was the oldest and longest reigning chief in the traditional area.
Nana joined his ancestors at the age of 97 after sitting on the throne for over 30 years.
The Head of the Asakyiri Royal Family, Abusuapanin Akwasi Oppong broke the news to Nananom and the general public. He highlighted the arrangement of the Forty (40) Days Cerebration which has been scheduled to 17th February, 2024 at Assin Darmang Durbar Grounds.
Brief Profile of Nana Fensi Asiampa II
Nana Fensi Asiampah II was born in January, 1926 at Asante Akim in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He started his primary education at Akim Swedru Catholic School and completed at Assin Darmang Catholic Middle School in 1952.
Nana Fensi until July, 1993 when he was enstooled as the chief of Assin Darmang was the Abusuapanin of Asakyiri Royal Clan. He succeeded his uncle Nana Kwegyiri III and was given the stool name Nana Fensi Asiampah II.
He continued his education at Asanteman Secondary School in Kumasi and completed in 1959. After teaching and working for some years at Ashanti Goldfields Ltd and Ghana Railway Corporation, he furthered his education to become a professional teacher at Nkoranza Teachers Training College in 1963 and graduated in 1967.
Nana taught as a professional teacher for about forty (40) years and spent most of his teaching career at Jukwa in the Lower Denkyira.
Until his departure, Nana served on a number of boards and committees including the Judicial Committee of Attandansu Traditional Council, the Board of Scholarship Trust at Assin South District Assembly, etc
He left behind a wife and ten (10) children.
