Stephen Appiah sends stirring message to Ghanaians ahead of 2026 World Cup draw

As anticipation builds ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw, former Black Stars captain and current Black Stars Management Committee Vice Chairman Appiah has delivered a heartfelt and inspirational message to Ghanaians.


The draw, scheduled for Friday in the United States, will determine Ghana’s group-stage opponents for a tournament set to unfold across America, Canada, and Mexico next year.


With Ghana placed in Pot 4, the national team could face a difficult group, but Appiah’s confidence in the squad remains unshaken. Appiah highlighted the importance of the moment, reminding fans of the global stage that awaits the national team:

And I hope and I know with the calibre of players that we have, we’re going to make it in the next World Cup, which is next year [2026].” With this, he reminded Ghanaians that despite being placed among the lowest-ranked teams in the draw, the Black Stars have a tradition of rising to big moments.


In wrapping up his message, Appiah extended a powerful call for unity and unwavering national support: "Good luck. We need your support. We need your prayers. See you in America. See you in Mexico. See you in Canada. Go, Ghana.”


His words echo the sentiment shared by millions of Ghanaians—hope, pride, and belief in another historic World Cup campaign.
